About us

Hi, I am Tanja Müller

I knew the salt cave long before I ever dreamed of owning it. For nearly ten years, I was a regular guest here.
Because of a serious lung condition, I truly learned to appreciate the benefits of spending time in the cave way back then.

After 32 years in the banking industry, I reached a crossroads in early 2025 that would completely change my life. The salt cave was facing closure and was destined to be taken apart. The thought of this special place in Kaiserslautern simply disappearing was something I just couldn't accept.

So, I made the decision to buy the cave and start my own business. A place I had known and loved as a guest for a decade became a place I could now call my own.

Today, I proudly run Salz & Zeit – your salt cave in Kaiserslautern – as an independent owner with my own vision. It is incredibly important to me that we keep the warm, personal atmosphere alive so that everyone who visits feels truly welcome.

I look forward to meeting you here in person.

Our Salt Cave

Our salt cave has been a part of Kaiserslautern since 2009 – it is a special place with its own unique atmosphere and history.

Approximately 20 tons of salt went into building our large salt cave. The walls are crafted from salt, the floor is entirely covered in it, and stalactites hang from the ceiling. When you step inside, you are literally walking on salt and are surrounded by this natural element on every side.

Our cave is not a chain or a franchise, but an individually designed space with its own story and personality. Many of our guests have been visiting for years and have become familiar faces over time.

We believe in preserving what makes this place special while also bringing in new ideas. That’s how Salz & Zeit – your salt cave in Kaiserslautern – continues to evolve, with a personal touch and great attention to detail.

Baloo - my companion
on four paws 🐾

Baloo has become just as much a part of my daily routine as the salt cave itself. This little Maltipoo was born on February 15, 2026, and comes from a breeder near Verona, Italy.

His journey to me was quite a story: In June, the little Italian pup flew to Germany and finally landed at Frankfurt Airport. We have been almost inseparable ever since.

Whenever I am working at Salz & Zeit, Baloo is right there with me. You can usually find him nearby or at the counter, where he loves greeting our guests. If my staff is working without me, Baloo takes the day off too. 😉

In the time since he arrived, he has even developed his own little fan base; some guests actually call ahead to ask if Baloo is in before they plan their visit. I especially love it when regulars walk through the door and Baloo knows exactly who they are.

Baloo is much more than just my personal companion. He is a natural part of Salz & Zeit – your salt cave in Kaiserslautern – and helps create the warm, personal atmosphere that makes our place so special. ❤️🐾
